Director of Operations

The Director of Operations serves as the chief visionary and strategic leader of the George Gordon First Nation (GGFN) community. This role involves providing overall direction and leadership to ensure the effective governance and management of the community. The Director of Operation collaborates closely with the Chief and Council to develop and implement long-term strategic plans that align with the George Gordon First Nations goals and cultural values. Additionally, the Director of Operations represents George Gordon First Nation in external affairs, building partnerships and advocating for the community鈥檚 interests at various levels of government and with external organizations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Governance:
鈥 Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction.
鈥 Collaborate with Chief and Council to develop and implement strategic plans.
鈥 Ensures that Chief and Council are kept informed through advice and reports
鈥 Recruits, manages and directs GGFN鈥檚 senior management team, oversees all human resource activities and organizes the workplace to effectively and efficiently implement GGFN鈥檚 vision and goals
鈥 Oversee financial management and sustainability, which includes working with the senior management team to oversee budget development and tracking.
鈥 Oversees the delivery of community programs and services.
鈥 Ensure transparency and accountability in all aspects of operations of GGFN
鈥 Ensure compliance of effective governance practices, policies and regulations.

Community Engagement:
鈥 Foster strong relationships with community members by regularly facilitating community meetings to provide updates about the 鈥渟tate of the nation鈥.
鈥 Promote community involvement in decision-making processes.
鈥 Represent the First Nation at public events, meetings, and with external organizations.

Advocacy and Partnerships:
鈥 Advocate for GGFNs interests at various levels of government and with external stakeholders.
鈥 Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and other organizations.
鈥ead or participate in negotiation agreements and partnerships that benefit the community.

Skills and Qualifications:
鈥 Bachelor鈥檚 degree in business management, Public Administration, Indigenous Studies, or related experience. Master鈥檚 degree preferred.
鈥 Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a First Nation or Indigenous organization.
鈥 Strong understanding of First Nation governance, culture, and traditions.
鈥 Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
鈥 Strong financial acumen.
鈥 Demonstrated the ability to deal with and balance competing priorities among a broad range of stakeholders and at times, working in a high-stress environment
鈥 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
鈥 High level of integrity and ethical standards.

Salary: Based on work experience, training, and education.
